Getting to Wimbledon 2027: A Travel Guide for the Championships

The Championships run from Monday 28 June to Sunday 11 July 2027. Here is how to get there, and home again, without the stress.

The Championships, Wimbledon, are among the highlights of the British summer. In 2027 they run from Monday 28 June to Sunday 11 July at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in south-west London. Getting there is easy if you plan ahead; getting home after a long day on Centre Court can be harder.

Tickets first

Most Wimbledon tickets are sold through the public ballot, which opens the autumn before, or through debentures and official hospitality. A limited number of tickets are also available each day through the famous Queue. Make sure you have tickets before booking travel.

Public transport

The nearest stations are Southfields on the District line and Wimbledon, which has mainline trains from Waterloo as well as the District line and trams. During the Championships, special bus services link the stations with the grounds. Both stations are very busy at the end of play.

By car: what you need to know

There is no on-street parking around the grounds during the Championships, and restrictions are strictly enforced. The All England Club's car parks must be booked in advance, and there are no on-the-day parking sales.

Licensed taxis and private hire vehicles must use the designated drop-off and pickup areas published by the All England Club and Transport for London each year, close to the grounds. That is why a pre-booked car is so useful: your driver knows where to go, drops you as close as the rules allow, and meets you at the agreed point afterwards.

Getting home after play

Play on the main courts can run late into the evening, especially under the roofs, and thousands of people leave at once. Arrange your pickup in advance, keep your phone charged, and agree with your driver where and roughly when to meet. Your driver can wait, or you can book the car for the whole day with our hourly hire service.

Our tips

  • Book your car early. Demand for cars in SW19 is very high during the fortnight, especially for finals weekend.
  • Travelling from Heathrow? Wimbledon is about 12 miles away, so many international visitors go straight from the airport.
  • Bring a light layer and sun cream. The weather changes, and many seats are uncovered.
  • Corporate guests? We can coordinate several vehicles. See our corporate transport page.
