Practical local guidance for visitors travelling around Haringey, with key neighbourhoods, attractions, transport connections and private-transfer planning.

Haringey Travel & Transfer Guide

Explore the London Borough of Haringey, including its history, main areas, attractions, transport, dining, hidden gems and local ambiance.

Haringey stretches from the hilltop village of Highgate to the stadium streets of Tottenham. It is home to Alexandra Palace, the birthplace of public television, and a fast rail link to Stansted.

Hilltops and stadiums

Alexandra Palace, opened in 1873, crowns a hill with one of the best views in London. In 1936 the BBC began the world's first regular high-definition public television service from studios here, and the restored studios and theatre now host exhibitions, concerts and events. The surrounding park is a favourite for walks and fireworks.

In the east of the borough, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, opened in 2019, hosts football, NFL games and concerts. Nearby, Bruce Castle, a Tudor-era manor house, is now the borough's free museum. Crouch End, Muswell Hill and Highgate are known for their independent shops, cafés and Edwardian streets.

Places worth knowing

  • Alexandra Palace – views, events, ice rink and park.
  • Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – football, NFL and concerts.
  • Bruce Castle Museum – local history in a historic manor house.
  • Parkland Walk – a nature trail along a disused railway line.

Getting in and out

The Victoria line serves Seven Sisters and Tottenham Hale, where Stansted Express trains also stop. The Piccadilly line runs through Manor House, Turnpike Lane, Wood Green and Bounds Green, and Highgate is on the Northern line. The A10, A1 and A406 North Circular are the main roads.

Airport transfers from Haringey

Stansted is the most convenient airport, via the A406 and M11. Luton is reached via the A1 and M25 or M1, and Heathrow via the North Circular and A40. Hill-top addresses in Highgate and Muswell Hill often have narrow streets, so we allow time for access.

Pickup tips for this borough

Tottenham Hotspur match and event days bring heavy traffic and closures along the High Road. For events at Alexandra Palace, tell us which entrance or car park you will use, as the building is large and set in a hilltop park.
