The borough with London's main airport
Heathrow sits in the south of Hillingdon, and many local communities – Hayes, Harlington, Harmondsworth and West Drayton – grew up around it. The airport is the borough's largest employer and a major reason for its hotels and business parks.
North of the A40, Hillingdon is surprisingly green. Ruislip Lido has a sandy beach and woodland railway, Harefield and Ickenham are village-like, and the Colne Valley offers lakes and canal walks. In Uxbridge, the Battle of Britain Bunker preserves the underground operations room used by No. 11 Group in 1940.

The Elizabeth line serves Hayes & Harlington, West Drayton and Heathrow. Uxbridge is at the end of the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines, and Ruislip, Ickenham and Hillingdon are on the same routes. The A40, M4 and M25 all pass through or along the borough.
Airport transfers from Hillingdon
Heathrow is on the doorstep, and journeys from most of the borough are short. RAF Northolt, used for some government and private flights, is also in Hillingdon. Luton and Gatwick are reached via the M25. Local hotel pickups around Heathrow are common, and we track flights for arrivals.
